- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan. Whisk in flour.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat. Stir in cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce.
- Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Mix bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle over mac and cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
Notes
- You can add cooked bacon or sausage for extra flavor.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
