Description

Ingredients

  • 1 (5-7 pound) prime rib roast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Pat the prime rib dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.
  4. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib.
  5. Place the prime rib, fat-side up, on a rack in a roasting pan.
  6. Roast for 15 minutes at 450°F (230°C).
  7. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue roasting for about 12-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (120°F for rare, 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  8. Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
