Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups pecan halves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring the sugar syrup to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, without stirring.
- Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the pecan halves and stir to coat them evenly with the syrup.
- Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant.
- Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crisp as they cool.
Notes
- Store cooled candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the syrup mixture.
- These are great as a snack, on salads, or as a topping for desserts.
