Description

A simple recipe for making sweet and crunchy candied pecans.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the sugar syrup to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, without stirring.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Add the pecan halves and stir to coat them evenly with the syrup.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant.
  8. Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crisp as they cool.

Notes

  • Store cooled candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the syrup mixture.
  • These are great as a snack, on salads, or as a topping for desserts.
