Description

A moist and flavorful banana bread recipe using sour cream.


Ingredients

  • 3-4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugars.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Gently fold in mashed bananas.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
  • Ensure bananas are very ripe for best results.
