Description

This soft honey butter cornbread recipe is a delightful treat. It’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and honey.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Brush the top of the cornbread with melted butter.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter cornbread, add more honey.
  • You can use a cast iron skillet for a crispier crust.
