A simple almond pound cake with a golden crust.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in almond extract.
  5. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra almond flavor, add a tablespoon of almond flour.
  • You can top with sliced almonds before baking.
