Description
A classic recipe for a perfectly roasted turkey.
Ingredients

- 1 (12-14 pound) turkey
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Rinse turkey and pat dry.
- In a small bowl, mix salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub butter all over the turkey.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture inside and outside the turkey.
- Place onion, carrots, and celery in the turkey cavity.
- Place turkey in a roasting pan.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast for 3-4 hours, or until a meat thermometer reads 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, baste the turkey with pan juices every 30 minutes.
- You can add other vegetables to the roasting pan.
- Adjust cooking time based on turkey size.
