This sweet cornbread is perfect for potlucks. It’s easy to make and always a hit.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and egg.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before cutting and serving.
Notes
- You can add a can of creamed corn for extra moisture and flavor.
- For a sweeter cornbread, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
