A delicious and easy overnight French toast casserole perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- Bread (1 loaf, challah or brioche recommended)
- Eggs (6 large)
- Milk (2 cups)
- Heavy cream (1/2 cup)
- Sugar (1/4 cup)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
- Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
- Butter (for greasing)
- Optional toppings: berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar
Instructions
- Grease a baking dish.
- Cube the bread.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Place bread cubes in the baking dish.
- Pour egg mixture over the bread.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 2 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly.
- Serve with desired toppings.
Notes
- You can add other spices like nutmeg or cardamom.
- Feel free to add fruit to the casserole before baking.
- For a quicker version, bake immediately after soaking the bread.
