Description

This recipe guides you to make soft and delicious honey butter cornbread.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for topping


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and honey.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cornbread is baking, melt the butter for the topping.
  8. Once the cornbread is done, brush the top with the melted honey butter.
  9. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter cornbread, you can add more honey.
  • You can use a cast iron skillet for baking.
  • Leftover cornbread can be stored in an airtight container.
