- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- You can add a simple glaze or dust with powdered sugar.
- Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature.
