Description

A delicious oat topping version of a classic apple crisp.


Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Toss sliced apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Add water to the apples.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
