Description
A sweet and savory glazed ham with notes of maple and bourbon, perfect for holidays.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8-10 pound) fully cooked ham
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Place the ham in a roasting pan.
- In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Heat the glaze over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
- Brush about half of the glaze over the ham.
- Cover the ham loosely with foil.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C).
- Remove the foil and brush the remaining glaze over the ham.
- Continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and bubbly.
- Let the ham rest for 15 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, score the ham in a diamond pattern before glazing.
- If you prefer a less boozy glaze, you can simmer the bourbon for a few minutes before adding it to the saucepan to cook off some of the alcohol.
- Ensure your ham is fully cooked before starting the glazing process.
