Description

A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired ground beef bowl. It’s perfect for a weeknight meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste), optional
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and gochujang (if using).
  4. Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Serve the beef over cooked rice.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang to your spice preference.
  • You can add other vegetables, like carrots or bell peppers.
  • Leftovers are great for lunch the next day.
