- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1.5 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onion and garlic. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Pour the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Top with the remaining sliced potatoes.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of celery soup for cream of mushroom soup.
- Add other vegetables like peas or corn for extra flavor and nutrition.
- For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
