Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the apples.
  3. In a saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat.
  4. Add butter and stir until melted.
  5. Stir in heavy cream and salt.
  6. Cook, stirring constantly, until the caramel reaches 245°F (118°C).
  7. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  8. Dip each apple into the caramel.
  9. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Add toppings immediately.
  11. Let the caramel cool and harden.
