- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste
Instructions
- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
- While potatoes are cooking, warm milk, butter, and minced garlic in a small saucepan over low heat until butter is melted. Do not boil.
- Drain potatoes well. Return them to the pot.
- Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer until mostly smooth.
- Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the mashed potatoes, stirring until creamy and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.

- For extra creamy mashed potatoes, use a potato ricer.
- Adjust the amount of garlic to your preference.
