Description

Rich and fudgy brownies with a hint of espresso and sourdough discard.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon espresso powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and espresso powder.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the sourdough discard.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Let cool completely before cutting and serving.
