Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the wet ingredients. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
