Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in the beaten egg, melted butter, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  6. Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape into rolls.
  7. Place rolls on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For softer rolls, brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
  • You can add herbs or cheese to the dough for variations.
