Description

Enjoy festive and delicious Crumbl-style Christmas sugar cookies. This recipe guides you through creating beautifully decorated cookies perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • For Frosting:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red and green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Cover the dough and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll dough into 1.5-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting: Beat softened butter until creamy.
  10. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, beating until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  11. Divide frosting and tint with food coloring if desired.
  12. Frost cooled cookies and decorate as you like.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is softened but not melted for best cookie texture.
  • Do not overmix the dough once flour is added.
  • Adjust baking time based on your oven. Cookies should be slightly soft in the center.
  • Let cookies cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Get creative with your decorations – sprinkles, edible glitter, or simple swirls.
