- 2 cups chopped yellow onion (about 1 large onion)
- 1 1/2 cups chopped celery (about 3-4 celery stalks)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 12 cups cubed day-old bread (about 1 pound loaf)
- 2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and celery; cook until softened, about 8-10 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in salt, pepper, sage, thyme, and rosemary.
- In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, onion mixture, chicken broth, and beaten eggs. Toss gently to combine.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
Notes
- For a crispier stuffing, bake uncovered.
- For a moister stuffing, cover with foil during the first 20 minutes of baking.
- You can toast the bread cubes in the oven beforehand for a firmer texture.
