- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped onions
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven. Drain any excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic. Cook until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, pinto beans, chili powder, cumin, and smoked paprika.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cover.
- Cook for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chili powder to your taste.
- For a spicier chili, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a chopped jalapeño.
- You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
- This chili can be made in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
