Description

A festive and flavorful bread infused with the warm spices and creamy taste of classic eggnog, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggnog and milk.
  6. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the eggnog mixture to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  7. If using, gently fold in the chopped nuts.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra festive touch, you can sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
  • Serve slices warm or at room temperature.
