Description

Chocolate chip brownies made with sourdough discard.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  3. Stir in vanilla and eggs until combined.
  4. Add sourdough discard and mix well.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips.
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool completely before cutting and serving.
