Ingredients
- Fresh cherries, pitted: 2 cups
- Almonds, sliced: 1/2 cup
- Rolled oats: 1 cup
- All-purpose flour: 1/2 cup
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup
- Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup
- Butter, cold and cubed: 1/2 cup
- Almond extract: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: a pinch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine cherries, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and almond extract.
- In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining granulated sugar, sliced almonds, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour the cherry mixture into a baking dish.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the cherries.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- You can use frozen cherries; thaw them before using.
- Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of your cherries.
