A delicious and moist brown sugar cornbread.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease and flour a baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and egg.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter cornbread, add more brown sugar.
- You can substitute regular milk and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to the milk to create a buttermilk substitute.
