Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine yeast, warm milk, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Add salt, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter over dough.
  7. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll up tightly.
  9. Cut into rolls and place in a baking dish.
  10. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  12. Make cream cheese frosting by mixing all ingredients.
  13. Frost rolls while warm.

Notes

  • You can add raisins or nuts to the filling.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the dough.
  • Make sure your milk isn’t too hot, or it will kill the yeast.
