- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chopped fresh apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts (if using).
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of apple varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala.
- Ensure apples are chopped into small, uniform pieces for even distribution.
- You can substitute dried apples for fresh apples, rehydrating them in warm water for 10 minutes before chopping.
